Bitcoin-based donations are helping Venezuelans
The downside of the possibilities for using cryptocurrencies is always being well dispersed by mainstream media through news exposing drug trafficking, money laundering and other illegal activities. Meanwhile, with the exception of specialized media, the good side rarely gets a chance to be seen.
Recently, with the dire economic situation in Venezuela, a non-profit organization known as Bitcoin For Venezuela Initiative (BFVI) is using cryptocurrency-based donations to help combat hunger and extreme poverty in the country.
According to the organization, with $ 229.47 USD (₿0.022547 BTC) it was possible to buy a week of food for approximately 1200 people. Bitcoin Venezuela is asking for more donations to continue its humanitarian efforts in the country.
