Substack, one of the most popular newsletter services, announced today that it will accept Bitcoin payments using the Lightning Network.
Substack allows writers to create publications by subscription. People use it to launch newsletters that cover almost everything from cryptocurrencies to comic books. Some Substack newsletters are free, but writers may charge readers for content consumption.
According to the company, the option to pay in Bitcoin will only be available for cryptocurrency publications for the time being. Crypto industry-focused newsletters are very popular on the Substack platform and account for a large share of users.
The company said it will use Lightning Network to process payments faster and cheaper, but there will also be the option to make payments “on-chain” without Lightning.
